Tips and Things to Consider
Plastic vs Wood Tables
We chose to do our banquet and round tables in plastic. The main reason we prefer plastic is the weight advantage. Once we deliver the tables, some customers find it hard to move due to the weight. With plastic tables, it will be easier for you to move around and less likely to be damaged. Plastic is also easier to clean, stain resistant, and water resistant. Wood is not water resistant and can warp if left outside in the rain. Plastic tables also look great without a table cloth.
Be prepared for rain, especially in Washington
Have a Plan A but also a Plan B. Plan B should be expecting rain. Plan for a tent in advance or an indoor space as a backup, just in case the weather doesn't cooperate.
Plan ahead
Book your rental needs as soon as you have your head count. Most people are reserving rental equipment 2-3 months in advance. Certain items sell out on the weekends, especially around holidays and summer months. Also some companies have limited supply and usually rent most of their equipment out on the weekends. Supply is limited, so always make sure to book your event as early as possible.
Rent more than you need
You may have the exact headcount but expect the unexpected. It's not uncommon for a guest to bring another friend. Or maybe someone you invited forgot to RSVP until the last minute. It's always a good idea to have at least 1 extra table and a few chairs.
Don't forget the extra tables
Many times people forget about the other tables they need. Head Table, cake table, gift table, guestbook table, photo booth table, DJ table, buffet table, and so on.
Double check with your caterer, DJ, photo booth attendant, and any other service that might be there. Some of these services expect to have a table setup for them. It doesn't hurt to double check with them in advance. See if they are bringing their own table or if they need one provided.
Games
Games are a great way to get people interacting. They encourage group participation and are an excellent way to enhance the excitement of your event, whether corporate or personal.
